Friendship

... no man is useless... while he has a friend.

A friend drops their plans when you're in trouble, shares joy in your accomplishments, feels sad when you're in pain. A friend encourages your dreams and offers advice--but when you don't follow it, they still respect and love you.

A friend is someone who, upon seeing another friend in immense pain, would rather be the one experiencing the pain than to have to watch their friend suffer.

A friend is very different from an acquaintance. The former is tried and true; the latter only a casual shadow in one's life.

A man cannot be too careful in his choice of enemies.

A true friend is one who overlooks your failures and tolerates your successes.

Advice from your friends in like the weather, some of it is good, some of it is bad.

An insincere and evil friend is more to be feared than a wild beast; a wild beast may wound your body, but an evil friend will wound your mind.

Best friends are like diamonds, precious and rare. False friends are like leaves, found everywhere.

But friendship is precious, not only in the shade, but in the sunshine of life; and thanks to a benevolent arrangement of things, the greater part of life is sunshine.

Celebrate the happiness that friends are always giving, make every day a holiday and celebrate just living!

Consult your friend on all things, especially on those which respect yourself.

Count your joys instead of your woes; Count your friends instead of your foes.

Friendship is always a sweet responsibility, never an opportunity.

Friendship is love with wings.

Friendship marks a life even more deeply than love. Love risks degenerating into obsession, friendship is never anything but sharing.

Friendship that flows from the heart cannot be frozen by adversity, as the water that flows from the spring cannot congeal in winter.

Friendships are fragile things, and require as much handling as any other fragile and precious thing.

Grief can take care of itself, but to get the full value of joy must have somebody to divide it with.

Hold a true friend with both your hands.

I no doubt deserved my enemies, but I don't believe I deserved my friends.

I value the friend who for me finds time on his calendar, but I cherish the friend who for me does not consult his calendar.

If we listened to our intellect, we'd never have a love affair.;We'd never have a friendship.;We'd never go into business, because we'd be cynical.;Well, that's nonsense.;You've got to jump off cliffs all the time and build your wings on the way down.

Life without a friend is like death without a witness.

Make new friends, but keep old friends.;One is silver, the other is gold.;All of them are just like jewels.;Age will mellow and refine them.

My best friend is the one who brings out the best in me.

Never injure a friend, even in jest.

Never speak ill of yourself; your friends will always say enough on that subject.

Promise me you'll never forget me because if I thought you would I'd never leave.

Shared joy is double joy. Shared sorrow is half sorrow.

The most I can do for my friend is simply to be his friend. I have no wealth to bestow on him. If he knows that I am happy in loving him, he will want no other reward. Is not friendship divine in this?

The only service a friend can really render is to keep up your courage by holding up to you a mirror in which you can see a noble image of yourself.

The only way to have a friend is to be one.

There is an important difference between love and friendship. While the former delights in extremes and opposites, the latter demands equality.

True friendship is like sound health, the value of it is seldom known until it is lost.

True friendship is never serene.

True happiness ... arises, in the first place, from the enjoyment of one's self, and, in the next, from friendship and conversation of a few selection companions.

We are each of us angels with only one wing. And we can only fly while embracing each other.

We are each of us in this world an angel with only one wing. In order to fly we must embrace each other.

We really don't have enemies. It's just that some of our best friends are trying to kill us.

What is a friend? A single soul dwelling in two bodies.

When a friend is in trouble, don't annoy him by asking if there is anything you can do. Think up something appropriate and do it.

When friends stop being frank and useful to each other, the whole world loses some of its radiance.

With clothes the new are best, with friends the old are best.

Without friends no one would choose to live, though he had all other good.

Yesterday brought the beginning, tomorrow brings the end but somewhere in the middle we've become the best of friends.
